Apart from that there are some benefits of bottle feeding. Firstly, you know exactly how much formula a baby takes in each feed every day, so you can monitor his or her intake. As formula stays in the stomach longer, baby is satisfied for a longer period of time. There is no doubt that bottle feeding is easier in public places, whether it is in a restaurant, while traveling or anywhere else for that matter. You need not curtail any activities just because you are tied down to feeding baby. There is a whole range of baby bottles available in the market. There are straight bottles, curved bottles, wide-necked bottles, angle-necked bottles, bottles which open at both ends for easier cleaning, and even breast shaped bottles. And they are made in a wide variety of materials: glass, plastic, polycarbonate, polypropylene. They are plain or colored, opaque or clear, with colorful baby designs, in different types and sizes. You can buy bottles which are reusable, bottles with liners which can be disposed off after one use, ready to use bottles which come with formula already in them so again, you don't have to clean/sterilize them and can throw them away after use.As there is such a wide variety of bottles to choose from, which one should you buy? You can buy something that appeals to you, which seems right to you, but eventually it will be your baby who decides which bottle you will use. If he is happy with what he is given, it is better to stick to that. Otherwise, you will have to keep trying till baby (and you) are happy with the bottle. Sometimes, some kind of bottles may cause problems to baby if they take in too much air, or sometimes they suffer from colic or spit-ups, which may be not just due to the formula but due to the bottle as the newer bottles are supposed to help prevent such problems. When you go to buy bottles, you may notice that some of them are certified as BPA free. What is BPA and why is it important? Bisphenol-A is a chemical which is found in plastic/polycarbonate bottles. It specially leaches out when hot milk or formula is poured into the bottles, when milk or formula is heated in bottles, when bottles are washed in hot water very often or sterilized. It is a toxic chemical and has been linked to early onset of puberty, obesity, diabetes, hyperactivity, increase in aggression, changes in response to painful or fear-provoking stimuli, impaired learning and memory, reversal of normal sex differences in the brain structure, elimination of sex differences in behavior, decreased maternal behavior, impaired immune function, breast cancer, prostate disease and cancer, sperm defects, impaired female reproductive development, miscarriage. So, yes, you do need to be concerned about this toxic chemical.Thankfully, there is a whole range of BPA-free bottles available in the market now. If you are still concerned or not convinced of their safety, then it is better to go in for glass bottles. Glass bottles are easier to clean and keep clean, do not retain odors, but may be heavy and, of course, they are breakable. They are also somewhat more expensive, but then if baby's safety is your concern, then the extra money is worth it. Generally hard, clear plastic will probably contain BPA, but there are bottles out there without BPA and you should buy them rather than those you are unsure about. PVC is another risky substance, again found in plastics, and you are better off avoiding bottles which are made of PVC or contain PVC or any other suspect substance. As far as bottle feeding is concerned, you can use breast milk or you can use a formula which is suitable for your baby. You can get different types of formula as well, powder, concentrated liquid and ready to feed liquid. Of these, powder formula works out the most economical and easy to use. You can even put formula in a dry bottle and take it with you wherever you go, adding water when necessary to feed baby. Once made and used for feeding, extra formula is best discarded, especially if you are out, within an hour or so.A new feeding technique has been patented by scientists in Israel lead by led by biochemist Prof. Michael Inbar of M.L.I.S. Projects Ltd. in Tel Aviv. The "Twist 'N Feed" bottle is a one piece bottle with two compartments, separated by strong cellophane. One compartment can store the dry formula and the other water, both pre-measured. When needed, you will just have to twist the bottle which will open the internal septum and shake the two together to make formula. This will make it easy to use and the unused bottle will have a shelf life of between two and a half and five years. It will be of great use in hospitals, in neonatal units and other high-risk environments. As many ready to use liquid formulae contain preservatives and other chemicals, this will negate the use of such products, thus keeping baby away from these potentially harmful chemicals.Since your baby is precious to you, you don't want to put him or her at any risk, especially one which is avoidable. Whichever bottle you finally choose, whichever bottle your baby feels comfortable with, there are a few pointers which you must keep in mind. If you live an area where water is safe for drinking, then you probably don't need to boil the water or sterilize the bottles. Follow your doctor's advice about this. If you need to sterilized bottles, you can either boil them or use a special sterilizer. Otherwise cleaning with hot soapy water and air drying is good enough. Some bottles can be cleaned in a dishwasher - check label instructions.Avoid using the microwave for warming formula and microwave will not sterilize bottles, unless you get a special microwave sterilization kit. It can be dangerous to heat formula as it heats unevenly and can cause heat spots in the formula, which can scald his mouth. Most times formula can be given at room temperature, or you can use tepid water to mix formula. Remember bottles can be used not only to give formula but also to give water (if required); medicines can be mixed in the water if necessary. When baby is little older, clear soups and juices can also be given in a bottle. While there is concern about using glass in bottles because glass can break, especially if baby throws it down or it falls by accident, do keep in mind that you should never leave a baby alone propped with formula. He or she can choke on it. Always hold your baby when feeding, whether you do it yourself or somebody else does it. So using glass should not be a problem. Glass is also environmentally friendly and recyclable. But then again, it is your call, whether you are comfortable using bottles made of glass or another material. In the beginning you may want to use the smaller sized bottles because baby can take in only a little formula at a time. Later you can switch to bigger bottles which will last as long as baby is bottle-fed. The new bottles have different vent systems which prevent ingestion of air by the baby along with the milk and thus reduce gas and colic.Whether you use bottles exclusively or give baby both breast milk and bottle milk, the important thing is that both you and baby should be happy and healthy. If you, as a mother, are happy with the way things are going, then your baby, too, will be happier.Smiti Munwani has been writing for a very long time. Chinese medicine uses many modalities of healing; acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, and diet therapy make up the most commonly used and Chinese medicine cupping is gaining in popularity. Maybe some of you saw the photo a few years ago of Gwyneth Paltrow on the red carpet with a backless dress and cupping marks all up her spine? Sometimes it takes a little popular culture to remind us of ancient ways of healing! The therapy of cupping has been used in China for thousands of years. At first it was applied using cattle horns or cross sections of bamboo. To create negative pressure inside the horn or bamboo these ancient 'cups' where boiled in water or fire was ignited to expel the air and suck the cups onto the skin. These cups were used mostly to draw out pus and blood in the treatment of boils. Cupping was originally used as an auxiliary method in traditional Chinese surgery. Later it was found to be useful in treating other diseases and developed into a special therapeutic method. The earliest record of cupping is in the Bo Shu (an ancient book written on silk), which was discovered in a tomb of the Han Dynasty. Several other ancient texts mention Chinese medicine cupping. Several centuries later another famous medical classic, Su Sen Liang Fang, recorded an effective cure for chronic cough and the successful treatment of poisonous snake bites using cupping therapy.Through several thousand years of accumulated clinical experience, the clinical applications of cupping have become increasingly wide. Now Chinese medicine cupping is used to treat arthritic symptoms, asthma, the common cold, chronic cough, indigestion problems and some skin conditions. There is a saying in China: "Acupuncture and cupping, more than half of the ills cured." Zhao Xue Ming, a doctor practicing more than 200 years ago, compiled a book entitled Ben Cong Gang Mu She Yi, in which he describes in detail the history and origin of different kinds of cupping and cup shapes, functions and applications. In mainland China the development of cupping therapy has been rapid. In the 1950's the clinical efficacy of cupping was confirmed by the co-research of China and acupuncturists from the former Soviet Union, and was established as an official therapeutic practice in hospitals all over China.Today, as more people (including Gwyneth) seek alternative therapies to deal with their health problems, the use of traditional Chinese medicine, including cupping is increasing. Much of the cupping equipment and methods used today are exactly the same as they were in ancient times. Some electronic or mechanized pumps have been invented, and suction cups introduced, but to a great extent the majority of people practicing cupping today still use horn, bamboo or glass cups. One reason that cupping techniques remain the same as in ancient times is due to the fact that, with the exception of a handful of acupuncture practitioners, cupping is generally practiced in rural area where no or very little modern medicine is available.Cupping affects the flow of Qi and blood. It helps draw out and eliminate pathogenic factors such as wind, cold, damp and heat. Cupping also moves Qi and Blood and opens the pores of the skin, thus precipitating the removal of pathogens through the skin itself. My first experience of cupping was when I had a bad cold and my acupuncturist applied cups to my back. First my back was rubbed with fragrant oil and, as I lay face down, the cups were applied. I could feel their edges digging into my flesh and then a gentle warmth and release as my skin was pulled up and away from my body. Once the cups were firmly in place and sucking up my skin, the practitioner moved them up and down my back. (This is called walking cups.) I was left to rest with the cups on my back. Once I got up from the table I felt much improved, the heaviness in my chest was gone and I had bright purple suction cup marks along my back, not unlike Gwyneth Paltrow in the photo of her - post cupping. The purple marks didn't hurt or bother me at all. They disappeared after a couple days along with my cold. Cupping provided relief from my cough and effective treatment of my cold.Jennifer Gawne is a registered Traditional Chinese Medicine herbalist and instructor at the Academy of Classical Oriental Sciences, a world-class TCM and Acupuncture School situated in the beautiful mountain town of Nelson, British Columbia. Dateline: Jan. 2008I was surfing the net the other day and came across a link leading me to a You Tube clip of an interview with Pakistan's former prime minister and opposition leader Benazir Bhutto.Heading up the populist Pakistan People's Party, Bhutto was a leading contender in the country's general election, before she was gunned down a few weeks ago.In this You Tube clip from a November 3 Al Jazeera interview with British television presenter Sir David Frost, Bhutto discusses who she thought was responsible for the prior assassination attempt on her life. The shocking part is when I heard Bhutto make reference to the people who assassinated Osama Bin Laden.Stop the tape! What did I just hear? I backed up the tape and at the 6 minuet and 15 second mark she does in fact say that Osama Bin Laden has been assassinated. I had to play it a few times to sink in.She says it with a straight face and Frost doesn't call her on it. What the hell is going on?My guess is that Bin Laden is indeed dead and this administration is keeping it a secret. Why would they do that?Maybe because someone killed Bin Laden and the Government doesn't have enough proof and releasing the information would be more trouble then its worth... Who knows. I do suppose that it would be an easy affair to hide Bin Ladens death from the public.Article Source:EzineArticles.com
According to the NEW Lexicon Webster's Dictionary, a Buckle is "a stiff fastening attached to one end of a belt, ribbon, strap, etc., the other end being threaded through it and secured by a hole over its spiked tongue as and when required; a similar device in the form of an ornament . . ."Belt buckles are "hot" today, and can add style and fashion to any look. They have been in existence for many years, having started, basically, as a utilitarian device. However, today they are available in a vast array of designs, styles, and uses.Hearts, flowers, butterflies, are most frequently incorporated in and designed as ladies' belt buckles. These can be found in bright enameled colors, sparkling rhinestones, and pastel colors. Belt buckles can be worn with a pair of jeans, or with slacks to coordinate an outfit and add some fun, or even with a skirt as a bright accessory adding your own personal fashion style. Ladies' belt buckles can be found in so many colors and designs that the choice to match or contrast with your outfit-of-the-moment-of-the-day is only limited by your imagination. All belt buckles that do not obviously and specifically fit into the "ladies'" category, are promoted for both men and women. Now that's not to say that if you are a flower-loving man, you can't wear a flower belt buckle . . . or a heart-loving man, that you can't wear a heart belt buckle. Don't get me wrong. You can wear whatever belt buckle you like. So there!Specially designed western belt buckles appeal to cowboys or cowgirls. They include rodeo belt buckles or beautifully ornate silver belt buckles inlaid with turquoise, as well as bull or skull belt buckles. Some belt buckles represent occupations - almost all occupations have been displayed on a belt buckle, whether it be a trucker belt buckle, fireman belt buckle, plumber belt buckle . . . just choose the occupation you prize and it probably can be found.Military belt buckles and American belt buckles are true emblems of patriotism, and can be worn with utmost pride and in humble honor. Words need not be spoken. Many American belt buckles include the USA flag or the eagle. Some speak of Freedom or Rights or Love for our country. But all American belt buckles portray devotion and deep gratitude for a country built and unified by and for the common goals of "the people."Biker belt buckles boast a life of their own - rough, tough, wild, death-defying, indestructible. Slogans such as "Live to Ride" or "Ride to Live" are proud, purpose-driven mottos inscribed on many biker belt buckles. Bikers ride with wild abandonment, with an air of ownership of the roads. It's hard to know what came first: the biker belt buckle or the biker attitude . . .! Bikers wear their biker belt buckles as an obvious adornment, yet with a casual nonchalance that belies their persnickety obsessive angst at finding the slightest scratch or ding or smudge on their "metal," be it bike or buckle!Cross, Christian, and religious belt buckles convey messages of faith, hope and love. Christian belt buckles are worn with bold conviction and fervent faith, offering promises of peace and justice for all. Often Bible verses are inscribed on the backs of these cross belt buckles, worn close to the body as a "shield of faith." Religious belt buckles are often worn to invite conversation about the basic meaning of life.Personalized, or initial belt buckles satisfy many categories and purposes. These belt buckles make great gifts and should be seriously considered for the person who seems "to have everything." These unique and ultra personal belt buckles are special tokens of appreciation for wedding party members, or can be ideal family reunion mementos, or great as Birthday gifts, anniversary gifts, graduations gifts, "I thought of you today" gifts, or simply 'just because' gifts. Not only can belt buckles be worn to accessorize by adding color and zing! to an outfit, they can also be worn to convey a message. Some belt buckles merely imply a message, through the choice of the design; others leave no doubt, their message emblazoned in graffiti or logo or image. Regardless, a message can be blatantly stated on a belt buckle - silently stated, but clearly read or implied. These unique belt buckles are often worn to express a passion, a philosophy . . . or even hopelessness.Today you can find sports team belt buckles, business logo belt buckles, and can even order custom-made belt buckles according to your own wildest imagination and specifications and for your own purpose or project. The possibilities are endless.Belt buckles are very "hot" today, collectible always, and may become truly valuable tomorrow. In the meantime, there is nothing better than a belt buckle belt to hold up your pants!Willie Lieske is owner and marketer of Better Belt Buckles. Ever since laptops first came out our desire to have them smaller and smaller was growing. As computer technology advanced on all frontiers, everything started getting smaller. Mobile computing has been a driving force behind the development of most technologies in the last 5 years. Whether its the iPod, a mobile phone or a laptop computer, it had to be as small as possible. Smaller is better because its more mobile - which is at the heart of modern culture and the way we consume the internet. The real challenge with laptops is the balance between size, speed and battery life. When energy saving processors lik the Intel Atom became more mainstream it opened up a new frontier in mobile computing. Asus was one of the first companies to jump unto this with what they called a "netbook" computer. Significantly smaller than a laptop, the 7 inch screen was much bigger than a mobile phone and much smaller than a laptop screen yet it was perfect for basic web browsing. With all the elements and features of a normal computer, the only real difference is the speed. Netbook computers rely on the Atom processor because its much smaller and uses a lot less power. Unfortunately this processor is not nearly as powerful. Although a netbook can do everything that a normal computer can do, its simply too slow. I've had trouble doing basic things like playing music through Windows Media Player. This is also partly to blame for the lack of memory. Most netboks can only accommodate a 2GB DDR RAM chip to save space and minimize power consumption.Probably my biggest frustration with a netbook computer is the keybord size. Unless you have hands the size of a 5 year old, its impossible to type on it. The keys are way too small and you end up pressing 2 keys at a time. Without being able to properly type anything - even if its just an email, can make netbooks redundant. There are some advantages though and there definitely are some great uses for them. Its important that you don;t try and treat a netbook laptop like a normal laptop. If you want it to do something other than what its made for you will only find yourself frustrated. Its meant for surfing the web. Simple as that. Use it appropriately.Article Source:EzineArticles.com

They need more than a few organic garden tips and ideas.Organic garden helpful ideas and tips are widely available, if you know where to find them. The most important thing you can do to control pests in the organic garden is to keep the soil healthy. Healthy soil produces healthy plants. Healthy plants, like healthy humans, are better able to withstand disease.A second helpful organic garden idea I like is to control pests with ladybirds (ladybugs). These beautiful little red insects with shiny black spots control aphids naturally and totally. You can order them from several organic garden places on the Internet. Until they arrive, spray every part of aphid-infested plants with well diluted soapy water. Rinse with clear water. My third favorite organic gardening idea is to plant guardian plants around and among tender vegetables. Marigolds make the organic garden border colorful, and ward off many pests. Onions and garlic are also great deterrents to pests that would like to break in and steal organic produce.Sources for More Organic Garden Helpful IdeasWe do not give specific websites here, but most of these groups or products can readily be located on the Internet.
