Copywriting - How to Write For Twitter

If you are trying to build some buzz for your small business, or you just want a little traffic to your next latest and greatest product, then you need to work on your social media copywriting. Twitter is a rapidly growing phenom that has become a boom for business owners looking to grow traffic to their sites. Read on to find out how you can write copy for Twitter.

This article will be useful for writing copy in any social media site, but we are going to discuss Twitter today. With the 140 character limit that the company imposes, you are limited to the amount of information that you can put in each "tweet."

When copywriting for Twitter you need to think of each tweet as a headline. You want to make sure that you are writing something that creates a question in the reader's mind so that they want to click your link for more information. This leads me to the second point. You also need to have a link in each tweet.

Your customers will have a very short attention span, and chances are, they are friends with hundreds of people on Twitter, so your messages are going by in the blink of any eye. You want to add a link to each of your tweets, because the entire goal of using Twitter as a marketing vehicle is to get people to LEAVE the site and come to yours.

If you just post interesting tidbits of information, jokes, and facts about your business, you are not giving the customer any incentive or call to action to move over to your own site, where you can actually sell them something. each tweet needs to help nudge the prospect to click your link.

Use terms that fascinate and create bug questions. Use popular culture references, or news-like stories that just happened, so people can relate to them easily. Once you have their attention, get them to click on your business or blog link to keep the question going.

All of the classic fundamentals of copywriting apply here, especially the rules for headlines. You need to grab the person's attention and you need to keep it just long enough for them to click your link and leave the Twitter site. You only have 140 characters to do it, but that is just enough to leave a compelling message and move on. Also, make sure that you don't keep sending the same tweet over and over. This is a quick way to have people un-follow you.

5 Things Every Drummer Needs

Most drummers are pretty well equipped these days.

They've got their drums, they've got their cymbals and they've got a stick bag that resembles Sherwood Forest.

They do, however overlook some little things that are hugely important. These little tricks of the trade help gigs run smoother, help you to play better and prevent some of the biggest nightmares that drummers go through.

So lets take a look at the 5 things every drummer needs:

Drum Key
This may seem obvious but it's surprising how many drummers forget to take a drum key to gigs or they don't have a back up when they lose one. It's just as important as your drums because without a drum key you'll find yourself in a pickle if you get to the gig and your drums are badly out of tune or you need to change a split head on the fly? For safety sake, carry two drum keys in your bag at all times.

Spare Heads
There's nothing worse than tearing the batter head on your snare drum on the first song of the night. If you don't have a spare head no matter what 'quick fix' you try will sound pretty bad. It's happened to the best of us so it's much better to be prepared for the eventuality. The best thing to do is to carry a spare head or two that you can quickly replace if and when you need to.

Tape
Thick tape is a god send for any gigging drummer. You can use it to muffle drums if you have to kill the sound in a small venue, you can use it for quick repairs on drums and cymbals if you get any splits or cracks and you can use it to tape down cables and back-line equipment to keep the stage tidy and safe. It also comes in handy when your lead singer gets lippy and you need to shut them up!

Gloves
The more you gig, the more abuse your hands take especially if your are the one carting all your equipment around. It's a great idea to get yourself a good pair of gloves to protect your hands when you are lugging your cases, drums and cymbals to and from the van. Your hands are one of your greatest assets so take good care of them. Another reason for carrying gloves is to protect your cymbals from finger prints and grime when putting them on and taking them off their stands. Your cymbals will keep their sparkle much longer if you avoid fingering them all the time.

Ear Protection
The importance of ear protection can't be emphasized enough. When your hearing goes their is no guarantee that it's coming back so do whatever you can to keep your ears healthy. Ear plugs, in-ear monitors and isolation headphones will help cut out the damaging frequencies that you are exposed to when you practice and perform. They'll prevent short-term damage and long term loss to your hearing so do yourself a huge favor and find an ear protection solution that works for you.

Hopefully you'll now see why drums, cymbals and hardware are only part of your gigging gear. Find a place for these little treasures in your kit bag and your life will run much, much smoother.

Self Employed Liability Insurance

Owning a successful small business is considered by many to be the American dream and while it may take years to actually make a profit, everything you have invested in it can be lost overnight due to a lawsuit. Everyone is accustomed to seeing lawsuits involving large corporations in the news but lawsuits involving small businesses, though not in the limelight, are many. Having the right insurance is as necessary for the small business owner as it is for the big boys or even more so. Unlike billion dollar corporations, even a small percentage loss due to a lawsuit for the small business owner can be devastating. In fact, without the right self employed liability insurance it could easily lead to financial ruin.

Ethics and scruples may be words that you live by but there are just as many people out there who live by the words free money. Even if you take every precaution, accidents do happen. If a person has a legitimate claim against you, you will likely feel obligated to make amends and because accidents aren't figured into your budget an incident could prove disastrous. While you may never need to make a claim and let's hope that's the case, having self employed liability insurance should be viewed as an investment as opposed to an extra cost.

It's not enough however, to simply purchase any insurance because not all policies cover every type of potential loss. Again, you must view self employed liability insurance as an investment to ensure the security of your business. In shopping for insurance it is will be necessary to understand every function of your business so that it is covered from every angle. Then you can acquire quotes from as many sources as possible in order to get the best rate according to the coverage your business requires.

Select self employed liability insurance coverage with the following criteria in mind. Public liability insurance protects you against third party lawsuits. Professional indemnity insurance covers you if you offer advice or consulting services to a third party. Landlord insurance protects you in suits that involve accidents and damage to your property. Commercial van insurance covers businesses that use a van to transport goods. Business building and content insurance is used for buildings or offices and the content within them. Business travel policies are used to cover you for company travel. By investing in a policy that covers your business from every angle you can rest assured that you have taken the steps necessary to prevent a monetary loss that the small business owner simply cannot afford.
