First, always have something nice to say about other people. Even if you don't like the person's project or work or you don't like interacting with that person, always have something good to say about them. If you continue to say something good about somebody else, even while they are thinking something negative about you, you will actually be able to change their perceptions about you. Second, try to be a team player. This means that you should sometimes volunteer to help other people. This means that in a team situation, you should try to work hard to get along with everybody. Third, stop being negative. People who are negative are not fun to be around. If you are always the person that is negative at the office, although people may agree with you, they may not like what you are saying. Work is something that you will have to do every day. Fourth, go to lunch with other coworkers. Lunch is a very important part of your day. Do you spend all of your time eating lunch at your desk? Do you go out to lunch with other coworkers? Or, do you sit at your desk and avoid everybody? It is very important for you to get up and start talking to other people. Have a personal conversation with other coworkers. Try to get to know them in the context of something personal that they like to do. Go to lunch and learn something new about the, their families, or their hobbies. Being friends with other coworkers will go a long way towards improving your reputation.
Finally, remember that a good reputation is built gradually. You cannot expect to do all of these things and have your coworkers suddenly become your best friends. You must do these things one at a time and slowly. Do not try to force feed everything. Your reputation is something that needs to be carefully managed and that you need to think about all the time.
